We gave the banks a 700 billion dollar bail out. And now the auto industry is begging for some. The fact is yes they are failing. Yes car sales have gone down drastically and yes if something is not done soon they will crash. But why should we bail them out? They create cars that are not fuel efficient, they build thousands of dealerships, and they are paying their workers way more then they should. Even if we did bail them out, no one would buy any cars. The economy is so bad that people can't afford the expense.
We shouldn't bail out the auto industry. The oil companies should. The oil industry is making more money then ever before. Then they should pay for it.

hmm?
There are about 302 million Americans.
It seems to me that we could give everyone in America a million dollars.
And then take the rest of the 699 billion or so and do whatever dumb shit else with it.
But that's just me, I guess other people don't want to have a million dollars to end their financial struggles.
Or we could buy a huge slide.
Wouldn't that just be so FUN!
